What does it mean to you to work in animal care?
It means a lot to me to work in animal care. I love what Asheville Humane is doing for the animals in our community and I have always wanted to help animals. Getting the opportunity to care for the animals on a daily basis and enrich their lives, I couldn’t ask for a better job!
What are some of the best parts of your job?
I love to enrich the dogs with treats or walks when they seem stressed, just that little attention means the world to them and means they can relax and act like a happy dog. I also love being able to watch our animals leave to happy homes when they are adopted.
What are some of the hardest parts of your job?
The hardest part of my job is saying goodbye to all of my furry friends when they get adopted, it’s bittersweet especially when it’s a long stay dog, but it’s worth it to see their happy faces and the family that is ecstatic to take their new baby home!
Have you had any moment that has really stuck out to you as a reason you keep coming back? Or, why do you keep coming back?
I keep coming back because the animals depend on animal care for their basic needs and I am able to provide that for them. I also love this organization and I know that I am surrounded by a lot of people that feel the way I do.
Why do you feel so passionately about animals?
I love animals because they have been apart of my life since I was born, they’ve taught me so much and I can’t imagine my life without them.
What do you want the public to know about your job?
The animal care team here at Asheville Humane is extremely hardworking and dedicated to the care of our animals. Their welfare is our priority and we are constantly trying new innovative ways to better care for our animals as an organization.
