On September 8th, our helpline coordinator got a call from a man who found an abandoned puppy. Using our online information and resources, he did all of the things that we recommend for reunifying a lost pet and its family. He made flyers, he took the pup to get scanned for a microchip, and he filed a found pet report. All to no avail. His next steps were to get the puppy up to date on all vaccinations, but he was quoted an astronomical price.

Our Community Solutions team was able to match this good Samaritan with resources so that he could afford to make sure the puppy he found was healthy and cared for. He was so excited that he was matched with such accessible and action-oriented solutions.

The best part: he was getting married on Saturday! During the Renaissance, it was tradition for a groom to give his bride a small dog as a symbol of loyalty and devotion.

If an owner, with proof of ownership, is not found, this puppy will stay in his care, fully vaccinated, neutered, and loved.
