Emergency Fosters - UPDATE
Dear Emergency Foster Team,
We just wanted to touch base with you all to express our sincerest gratitude for your willingness to be an Emergency Foster Parent! Thanks to an outpouring of support, we have been overwhelmed (in a good way!) with 500 applications and counting! We are completely blown away and our hearts are full. You all are truly amazing.
Our foster team, consisting of two staff members, is small but mighty! Evie and Mallory have an assembly line going, preparing food, medications, care instructions, leashes, toys, beds, etc. to send home with each and every foster animal, then delivering our furry friends and all their ongoing slumber party supplies to the cars of their new foster family.
Both foster staff members are working very hard to sort through applications and get animals into homes as quickly as possible, but if you don't hear from them right away, please stand by! Even if we don't have an animal ready for you at this moment, our army of willing emergency fosters is now assembled and we're SO grateful to have you on standby, ready for the call!
As the open-admission shelter for all of Buncombe County, animals in need will continue to come through our doors every day. We can sleep at night knowing that so many wonderful people are waiting on standby, ready to help when the need continues to grow over the next few weeks or even months. There are also many other wonderful rescue groups in WNC in need of foster parents. Please consider reaching out to those in your area. We’re all in this together.
THANK YOU again for your generous offer to help, and please know how much you are appreciated. You are all lifesavers and we couldn't do this without you.
PS - If you are interested in adoption, please call (828) 761-2001 x312, or email adoptions[at]ashevillehumane[dot]org. More details listed here about our temporary adoption procedure: https://ashevillehumane.org/adopt
Help us save lives by providing a temporary, loving and restful retreat for animals in need. We provide all of the supplies, food and medical attention, so there is no cost to you as a foster parent... all you provide is love!

When an animal needs some time to recover from a sickness or injury – or just needs to be socialized – we depend on our network of foster homes. Last year, our foster program made it possible to care for almost 1,400 animals.
