Informational Tour of the Animal Care Campus

Join us an informational tour of the Asheville Humane Society (AHS) and Buncombe County Animal Shelter (BCAS) every 4th Saturday of the month from 1:30-3pm. (There will be no tour in July or August.) This tour will provide information about our programs and operations and will take you behind-the-scenes to see where it all happens. The tour begins in the lobby of the Adoption Center and follows the path of animal from intake at the BCAS to adoption at the AHS Adoption Center. This tour does not involve hands-on animal interaction and may not be suitable for young children.

There will be NO tour in July or August. Tours will resume in September.

Family-Friendly Tour of the Animal Care Campus

Our family-friendly tour will offer families with children the opportunity to check out all of the work that goes into giving every animal in our community a life worth living!  This all-ages, behind-the-scenes tour is fun and educational with plenty of opportunities for questions along the way. Though there typically won’t be opportunities for hands-on animal interactions, families will learn all about the process that animals go through when they come to the shelter and how we’re helping our community’s pets and their people thrive, together!

A family-friendly tour will be offered on the third Saturday of each month from 2-3pm. The tour will begin in the lobby of Asheville Humane’s Adoption Center (14 Forever Friend Lane) promptly at 2pm and typically run for 30-60 minutes. Strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the tour.
